The 10 Best LGBT-Inclusive TV Episodes of the Week: April 10-April 16

This week TV gave us Caitlyn Jenner trying to reconnect with her ex-wife, Ray Holt working with an old friend and a full season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Yes, that ended up making a big dent in the list. Here are my choices for the 10 best LBGT-inclusive TV episodes of the week.

10. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Meets a Celebrity!”

In this episode, Kimmy worried about her friend Cyndee wanting to get married and start a family. The stress made her allow herself to cry for the first time in a touching and cathartic scene. Meanwhile, Titus bonded with a teenage boy.

Best Moment: Titus advice on girls– never buy them cellphone cases because they are very particular and you will not choose right.

9. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Goes to a Hotel!”

Kimmy and Dong shared a romantic night together, thanks to Joshua Jackson guiding them/airing his valid grievances with Dawson’s Creek. Meanwhile, Titus had to work during fake Christmas.

Best Moment: Titus singing a song about how Titus learned a lesson and was the only one in the group who had an adventure.

8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Walks Into a Bar!”

Jacqueline threw a gala despite her rival Deidre’s attempts to sabotage her, while Kimmy went on a dat with extremely handsome guest star Sam Page.

Best Moment: Mikey admitting he’s only been talking a lot to make Titus happy, while Titus says he’s been listening in order to make Mikey happy. Aaw.

7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine: “The Bureau”

Guest star Dennis Haysbert played a dear friend of Captain Holt in this episode, resulting in some incredible scenes including them committing completely to memorizing what some pieces of lint from Jake’s pocket look like.

Best Moment: The heist sequence with Holt discussing Sex and the City was a damn treasure.

6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Drives a Car!”

Kimmy and Jacqueline worked out their turbulent relationship in this episode, while Titus rented his apartment out on Airbnb.

Best Moment: The sequence where Titus discovers the Internet.

5. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Sees a Sunset!”

Kimmy tries to help Andrea with her drinking problem so she doesn’t have to go to rehab, resulting in a fantastic scene where Andrea explains that it’s never her fault when people leave. Meanwhile, Titus and Mikey discuss moving in together.

Best Moment: Titus being personally offended by someone mentioning improv to him.

4. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Goes to Her Happy Place!”

This episode got deep as Kimmy tried to be angry and discovered her abandonment issues along the way. Meanwhile, Titus helped Mikey come out to his family.

Best Moment: What started as a scene about Titus making everything about him went to a nice, observant place when Titus recalled how he never properly came out because where he was from a guy like him was just “funny.”

3. I Am Cait: “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?”

Kris Jenner joined the group as they visited New Orleans and Caitlyn attempted to talk things out with her.

Best Moment: The discussion of sex reassignment surgery and how it is not necessary for being trans was fantastic, especially when Ella mentioned that she’d like to be able to wear a swimsuit and the always wonderful Chandi Moore replied that she could wear a swimsuit now and totally rock it.

2. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Meets a Drunk Lady!”

This season was all about Kimmy not dealing with her issues, but she finally began to see that she can’t keep ignoring her problems thanks to Andrea (Tina Fey, who gives a really great performance here).

Best Moment: Titus finding a tape tower at the dump was a surprisingly powerful pay off.

1. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: “Kimmy Finds Her Mom!”

This season finale provided the perfect emotional pay off to the season long arc about Kimmy’s emotional issues and her mother. Meanwhile, Titus runs away from his problems.

Best Moment: Titus saying that if he gives up, he’ll be no better than a NASA astronaut.
