This week TV gave us Elijah Krantz bonding with Hannah Horvath’s parents, a reconciliation between Caitlyn Jenner and Kris Jenner, a terrifying threat against Dr. Gregg Edwards and much more. Here are my choices for the 10 best LGBT-inclusive TV episodes of the week.
10. Awkward: “Digging Deep”
Jenna and Matty were finally getting along last week, but by the end of this episode all their old wounds had been opened and Jenna was left sobbing and apologizing in a heart-wrenching ending.
Best Moment: I can appreciate the terribleness of the pun “Donna Draper.”
9. The 100: “Demons”
This week’s episode had a horror movie feel as Emerson returned to Arkadia to get his revenge on Clarke.
Best Moment: Clarke unleashing Alie 2 on Emerson.
8. Girls: “Love Stories”
Part-one of Girls season finale opened with a fantastic break up scene between Hannah and Fran, then continued to be a satisfying episode featuring the return of Jenny Slate’s Tally Schifrin.
Best Moment: Dill dumping Elijah. Man.
7. I Am Cait: “Kiss and Make Up”
This week’s I Am Cait continued with Caitlyn trying to reconcile with Kris. Meanwhile, Candis started looking into adopting a child.
Best Moment: The frank discussion about gender confirmation surgery.
6. Faking It: “Spooking It”
It’s Halloween in April for some reason on Faking It. Amy and Karma went to the Halloween party together and there were some nice moments of Karma being concerned for Amy and Amy getting hit on while shoving food in her face.
Best Moment: Amy and Felix’s conversation after he saw her kissing Harper was refreshingly honest and understanding.
5. Broad City: “Jews on a Plane”
This week Abbi and Ilana were on a flight to Israel when Abbi got her period. The sequences that followed of them trying to deal with the situation were consistently surprising and fun. Oh and it opened with an Adam Levine airport safety video which was pretty life changing.
Best Moment: The cockpit running gag was pretty amazing.
4. Girls: “I Love You Baby”
The second part of the Girls season finale gave us Hannah returning to writing and putting her relationship with Adam behind her for real, calling herself free. In contrast to last season’s finale which ended with her with Fran, this one ended with her alone and happy.
Best Moment: Elijah’s talk with Loreen.
3. Legends of Tomorrow: “Last Refuge”
This week had the Waverider crew scrambling to kidnap themselves in order to stop an assassin from coming after them. It’s one of the most ridiculous episodes of TV I’ve ever seen and I loved every minute of it.
Best Moment: Sara giving Kendra love advice.
2. Bates Motel: “The Vault”
This entire season of Bates Motel has been excellent, but this might be the most emotionally gripping episode yet.
Best Moment: The turn from Norman confiding his tragic trauma to Dr. Edwards to threatening him was perfect.
1. Brooklyn Nine-Nine: “Greg and Larry”
This season finale was perfect, delivering genuinely surprising plot turns along with the excellent comedy.
Best Moment: Funky Cold Medina!
