This week TV gave us the return of Steven Universe, things getting somehow even worse for Clarke Griffin, the exposure of a major betrayal on Faking It, and more. Here are my choices for the 10 best LGBT-inclusive TV episodes of the week.
10. Faking It: “Exposed”
Karma was determined to prove to Amy that Sabrina was lying to her. Conveniently, the boyfriend that Sabrina claimed was fake actually showed up so proving that Sabrina was lying turned out to be pretty easy.
Best Moment: Noah dumping Shane’s ass.
9. Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta: “Mother Of All Problems”
In this mother’s day episode, Rasheeda tried to get Shirleen and Momma Dee to get along. It was just as amazing as you’d expect from a feud that started with someone building a nest in the middle of a store to prove some sort of point.
Best Moment: Chris shooting down Stevie J’s disgusting comments by telling him point blank, “You are scaring me.”
8. Awkward: “Living in Sin”
This week Jenna moved in with Luke, Lissa sorta discovered feminism and Tamara found out that it turns out you actually have to pay credit card bills.
Best Moment: Ethan’s reference to Miley Cyrus’ “You Can’t Be Tamed” surprised and delighted me.
7. The 100: “Perverse Instantiation: Part One”
Things are getting very excited on The 100 as Alie gets more seemingly unstoppable. This week Clarke and crew had a real heck of a time after walking into a trap.
Best Moment: Clarke refusing to give up the activation code even when Abigail’s life was threatened.
6. Steven Universe: “Super Watermelon Island”
This video game-inspired episode was absolutely adorable and fun. It started the new season off on a surreal, almost Adventure Time-like note.
Best Moment: The gems saying goodbye to Steven.
5. Archer: “Double Indecency”
This was a great plot even by Archer‘s high standards. The guys and gals ended up in parallel plots in which they were betting to see who among them had the best seductive skills. The awesome set up paid with plenty of laughs.
Best Moment: Ray saying “you better apologize, bitch” after someone made Pam cry.
4. Empire: “Rise by Sin”
This was a tense episode that effectively kept ramping up the drama until the edge-of-your-seat last few minutes.
Best Moment: Jamal staying unflappable as Lucious laid down a real classic terrible Lucious rant.
3. Steven Universe: “Gem Drill”
This sweet episode showed what a great hero Steven is and how far along Peridot has come. Steven saying “I love you” to Peridot was one of the sweetest things to happen on this show yet.
Best Moment: The gems returning to find out how much Steven had accomplished.
2. Bates Motel: “Forever”
This was a devastating episode, not just for the huge ending, but for the subtler dramatic moments before. Norma’s relationships with both Alex and Dylan had managed to become incredibly sweet and positive over the seasons and this episode ripped that away.
Best Moment: Norman’s session with Dr. Edwards.
- DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: “Destiny”
Rip Hunter truly cannot catch a break. This episode he found out that every single thing he’s done has actually been to help Vandal Savage. This is brutal and, at this point, felt like something that of course would happen to Rip and this team. This fun, silly show really snuck up on me with just how tragic and emotional it can get.
Best Moment: Sara talking to Leonard about the ring he always wears.
