The 10 Best LGBT-Inclusive TV Episodes of the Week: May 22-May 28

This week TV gave us Sameen Shaw’s attempt to escape from a terrifying prison, a dramatic phone call for Cosima Niehaus, Victor Strand grieving a terrible loss, and more. Here are my choices for the 10 best LGBT-inclusive TV episodes of the week.

10. Bones: “The Secret in the Service”

This week Fisher, played by my beloved Joel David Moore, returned so we could see more of the Fisher/Hodgins/Montenegro friendship. That should be the show.

Best Moment: Angela figuring out exactly what Fisher’s new job is.

9. Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta: “Common Ground”

This week was heavier than most, since Scrapp DeLeon received a five-year prison sentence and his family had to deal with it. But, the still worked in plenty of the usual levity and pettiness that makes this show so fun.

Best Moment: The scene with Rasheeda, Ariane and D. Smith hanging out at Pressed was a nice, refreshingly drama-free moment of friendship.

8. Fear the Walking Dead: “Shiva”

After we got to see some beautiful intimate scenes between Victor and Tom last week, this week was nothing but heartbreak as we watched Victor grieve.

Best Moment: Victor having to deal with Tom’s mom. Yeesh.

7. Arrow: “Schism”

This final was a lot, with the team working to stop a nuclear apocalypse and Oliver putting his new magical powers to the test.

Best Moment: Curtis and Felicity stopping a nuclear attack on Star City.

6. Containment: “He Stilled the Rising Tumult”

This week we really saw Lex finally go into full rebellious mode. It was great seeing him decide to join up with Leo to find the truth.

Best Moment: Sam and Jana’s tense expedition.

5. Gotham: “Transference”

From the ridiculous copycat Jim Gordon to Nygma’s elaborate series of riddles for Bruce and Lucius, this silly, fun episode was everything I want from Gotham.

Best Moment: Barbara realizing that the copycat was definitely not Jim because he wasn’t mad at her.

4. Bob’s Burgers: “Glued, Where’s My Bob?”

This episode was not only the season finale, but also the 100th episode of Bob’s Burgers. This meant getting sentimental, but they managed to strike an absolutely perfect tone that was earnest and not saccharine. Bob’s song with Louise was so sweet and put the incredible relationship the show has crafted between those two characters on full display. Everyone changing “toilet Bob!” to Bob’s chagrin was the kind of perfectly weird and funny thing that would happen to him while also serving as a sincere love letter to this incredible character.

Best Moment: “Hi, Marshmallow.”

3. Orphan Black: “The Antisocialism of Sex”

This was an exciting, intriguing episode that mixed sci-fi and character drama well. From Sarah Manning at the club to Rachel Duncan being told that a clone could never fill a serious role, this episode was full of moments that perfectly hit their mark.

Best Moment: Felix’s phone call to Cosima. Holy shit.

2. Person of Interest: “Reassortment”

In this episode, the team uncovered a plot to start a supervirus with the endgame of proving humans are unreliable to give more power to an AI. It was a satisfying story with a couple difference nice turns. But, the best part was absolutely Shaw’s plotline as she fought her way out of prison. She was clearly exhausted physically and emotionally, but kept fighting and it was very exciting to watch.

Best Moment: Shaw shooting a guy and stealing his car keys was so satisfying.

1. Archer: “Deadly Velvet: Part 1”

This season has been absolutely killing it with episodes based on old tropes. In this one, the team visits a movie set that everyone claims is cursed. In typical Archer fashion, they get a lot of clever laughs in from the cliche premise.

Best Moment: Pam’s post-road head giddiness made me so happy.
